UPGRADE YOUR TAA TO THE NEW TAE

“CALLING ALL TAA HOLDERS! UPGRADE YOUR TAA TO THE NEW AND IMPROVED TAE FROM $199″

Turning your TAA into a TAE- What you need to know.

What happened to TAA?

The short answer? – Nothing- The TAA is still alive and kicking. What has happened is that TAA has been around for a good 6 years. Since 2004 there have been some significant changes to the way the Training and Assessment arena operates coupled with a shift in the needs of industry in relation to training and assessment. As a result of this TAA has been revamped and redesigned to become TAE, which is part of the new training package TED10.

Do I need to upgrade?

Based on a report issued by the industry skills council responsible for the redevelopment, they have said that it is not necessary for TAA holders to upgrade to the new TAE qualification. That being said they also mentioned that the TAE will become the new benchmark for training and assessment qualification within the next 12-18 months. This is further reinforced with RTO’s being unable to issue TAA qualifications after the middle of 2011.

From a TAA holder’s perspective, upgrading the TAA is not the same as upgrading from BSZ to TAA. The revamp hasn’t really changed the key concepts. Instead they simply made the qualification less cluttered and more functional. That being said in a fast paced competitive industry with many trainers and assessors, having the most up to date qualification may help you stand out from the crowd and could mean the difference between you winning that job, tender or contract or slightly missing out.

Why should I upgrade?

Have the most up to date qualification

  • Stand out from the crowd
  • The ability to list both TAA and TAE on your CV- further building credibility and experience
  • Allow you to further your training and assessment career by completing other qualifications within the TED10 package.

What is the process?

We have tried to make the process as simple and hassle free as possible. With that in mind we have broken the upgrade process into two parts.

1. Initial screening and evidence collection

2. Processing of application and issuing of TAE

1. Initial screening and evidence collection:

We need to collect enough evidence to demonstrate that you have the TAA, the combination of units (electives) that make up your TAA, your work history and current work situation. All this evidence gives us a picture of your TAA qualification, the units of competency you completed as part of your TAA and finally we need to establish currency in the training and assessment industry.

This process can be done online and you need to upload scanned copies of the following:

  • TAA qualification
  • TAA statement of units completed
  • Current CV, including current position roles and responsibilities (must be or have been working in the industry as a trainer and assessor for the last 12 months.)
  • Job description (current)
  • 3rd party report from employer or equivalent justifying your currency (if required)
  • Completed enrolment forms

This can be done @ www.speakwithease.com.au/taeupgrade or you can post your evidence to us @

We will then make an initial assessment of your evidence and confirm your ability to do a straight evidence based upgrade. We will then contact you to confirm you wish to upgrade your TAA-TAE, request payment and upon receipt of payment progress onto step 2. If the evidence you provide is insufficient or the elective units you have completed do not directly match, we will contact you to discuss your options which may include a small amount of training or additional evidence. Either way we will discuss this with you.

Step 1 is 100% free.

2. Processing of the application and issuing of TAE

At the completion of step 1 assuming that there is no further evidence or training to be completed, we will formally map your evidence to the TAE40110- Certificate IV in Training and Assessment. This process will take between 7-14 days from date of payment being received. We will send you a recognition document that will require your signature and other details. This can be scanned and emailed or posted back to SWE using the address above. The process is quite admin intensive on our end and we want to provide you with a realistic timeframe for the upgrade process to take place.

Once your upgrade has been processed a certificate will be printed and issued to you via post to your chosen address.

How long does the process take?

 Between 7-21 days.

How much does the upgrade cost?

Until the end of January 2011 we are able to offer the upgrade as a stand alone independent service. After January 2011 if you wish to upgrade to the TAE you will be required to pay the full Recognition of Prior Learning price of up to $800.

The TAE upgrade will cost you $199
